Pumpkin pie isn't only for 'Pumpkin Season'. Don't feed into the machine. | SPG 31 Days of Smoothies
Ok, you're probably not going to be making pumpkin pie flavored anything in the middle of summer (though these days, August seems to be de rigueur for autumn spice-flavored things), but come on. This is January and there are smoothies to be had. Comfort smoothies. Smoothies that hug you back.
Hence, I bring you the Pumpkin Pie Smoothie. Because it hugs you back. Not me, though. I'm not gonna hug you back. I don't know you and that would be weird.
Perfectly Pumpkin Pie Smoothie
1 cup milk of choice
1/4 cup canned pumpkin
1 serving protein powder of choice
1 tablespoon oats
1-2 pitted Medjool dates or 2-4 Deglet dates (you choose)
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
Tiny pinch of salt
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (OPTIONAL)
1 tablespoon yogurt of choice (ALSO OPTIONAL: Provides a whipped cream effect)
1/2 tablespoon chopped pecans (ALSO ALSO OPTIONAL: If you want to be fancy and invoke pumpkin pecan vibes)
Of note: I kept my spice measurements on the smaller side, because my actual measurements and love for these spices are not for everyone. I LOVE ground cinnamon, so I use 1 teaspoon (at least). I also love cloves, so I use 1/4 teaspoon. Feel free to tinker!
This smoothie may be thick because of the canned pumpkin; if that's the case, add up to 1/4 cup more liquid to thin it out a little.
Make It:
Blend all of the ingredients you're using until smooth. Top with a little cinnamon to make it dance.
Chad the Coffee Mug just wants to hold pumpkin pie smoothies and play with his pie friends. You go ahead, Chad!
