Mixed Berry Jammin' Purpose Smoothie: January 5th.

It's purple. With purpose. | SPG 31 Days of Smoothies


Well, that's what they call a 'Freudian Slip', eh? I legit meant to title this "Mixed Berry Jammin' Purple Smoothie", but my fingers had other ideas. My fingers wanted to type out that this is a smoothie with PURPOSE. With DETERMINATION. With STRENGTH. I make no claims, but apparently you're gonna drink it, exclaim "AWWWW YEAAAAH!!" and then, like, go outdoors and lift a car or something. Or maybe just complete your errands list.

Or not go out at all; it's cold here on the East coast. So very, very cold.

Maybe that's the purpose of this smoothie: to give you the brightness and energy that these beautiful berry antioxidants will give you, so cold be darned; it doesn't matter because you're shining all day and Spring is on its way! You will do jumping jacks and laugh in the face of Old Man Winter.

Just make this smoothie first or none of that will happen, clearly.


Mixed Berry Jammin' Purpose Smoothie

  • 1 cup milk of choice (I use unsweetened almond milk or unsweetened almond coconut milk)

  • 1/2 serving protein powder (Whatever you use. For myself, I added 3 tablespoons ground hemp seed powder, less than a usual serving because I'm adding a hefty dose of chia seeds to this one)

  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds

  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened shredded coconut

  • 1 pitted Medjool date (or 2 Deglet dates)

  • 1/4 of a large frozen banana

  • 1/4 cup fresh or frozen spinach

  • 1/2 cup frozen mixed berries, or whatever berry you like. They're all good!

  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1 tiny pinch of salt

  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract and 1/4 tsp almond extract (BOTH OPTIONAL)


Make It:

  • Place all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. Cuz it's a 'smoothie', not a 'chunk-ie'.


Here's to a Purposefully Purple New Year!


I mean, look at the joy. It even looks happy in the fridge, hanging out with its BFF, coffee.
